Moxie's

Moxie connected with Square One
For my first entry, I have chosen Moxie’s grill bar located at Mississauga Square one shopping centre. This particular restaurant, I find it in a great location for the accessibility either you are taking the bus, car or a walking distance if you live around the area or just visiting your friends and family. If you are a tourist you would want to come visit Square one, Mississauga’s living arts center, the civic center which offers an ice rink in winter, the library and the celebration square. Tip:  at night it is just beautiful to look at.

When you go to Moxie’s grill bar you will notice there are two ways in going inside, one from the inside of the mall and the other from the outside. As you enter you will be greeted by the receptionist and seated according to your preference, either in the bar or the dining room and you will also notice their lighting is dim. The bar is not very impressive since they still have old and out dated TV for sports and just not good to look at but the layout of the seating is decent. The dining room in the other hand makes up for what the bar is lacking, they have a great spacing if you have a party of 10 or more, they have tables for 4 to 6 people and a great place near the fireplace for romantic dining for 2.
Menu
Their choices of food are great and it doesn’t overwhelm your choice of experience and that is perfect, you wouldn’t want too many choices. The price range is descent from 8.99 starters and 29.99 for the main course.
White Peach Bellini
They have daily specials along the week from the bar service. I was there this Wednesday with my girlfriend and we tried out their White Peach Bellini special for 3.99. With an additional of $2.00, we got it up-sized to massive cup!
Beef Vandoloo

The food that I had was is Beef Vandoloo “rich & spicy with shredded sweet coconut over jasmine rice drizzled with yogurt and a side of curry buttered naan bread." If you like different types of food, especially curry dishes, then this is the right choice for you. It has very strong spices and exotic flavor. They have 9 well triangular cut, warm naan bread that is sprinkled with curry flavor, around your main dish. The beefs are placed on top of the jasmine rice and drizzled with a generous amount of vandoloo sauce. The dish is very presentable and laid out properly. Beef was well cooked and tender. The dish was overall dish is very delicious and flavourful. I would recommend it to people who is a curry fans or adventurers who likes to try new things.
Mediterranean Prawn & Crab Linguine

If you are not a curry lover and pasta is your thing then maybe the Mediterranean Prawn & Crab Linguine is your thing. My girlfriend picked this because she loves pasta and sea food also the waitress highly recommended it if you are a pasta lover.  This dish is described as “tossed in house-made basil pesto with fresh tomatoes, with prawn and crab meat.” Will first thing first, their crab is not any real crab but imitation crab meat, but they make up for it with their shrimps. The presentation of the dish was presentable, their shrimp was well cooked and very juicy and the pasta had the right amount of sauce. The taste of this food was very flavorful, but my girlfriend didn’t like it, she did like the sea food and the linguine but not the overall taste. She described it as too salty. She end up liking my Beef Vandoloo instead.

The one thing Moxie’s grill bar is known for is their dessert White Chocolate Brownie described as “warm chocolate sauce, French vanilla ice cream & real whipped cream.” This is a must have and before you leave, you must order it. There are two different sizes, one is the regular normal size while the other is a small junior size. Unfortunately at that time me and my girlfriend dined in and ready to order it, they ran out. It’s a must have and if you go their do get it.

The experience as me and my girlfriend entered was very welcoming, the host directed us to our seats and once we were at our seats we notice that we didn’t have the utensils in our table and we had to ask for it once we had our foods. The service that we got from our server was good and she also notified us when she was about to clock in for her day, she introduced us to our new server that will take her position. Our new server did come by and asked us if we were okay for several times but in the end when we asked for the bill, he did take long and you can see him chatting with friends in the other table. Overall service was great but with minor hiccups.

Overall would I recommend it? By all means go to the square one location, their food is very good, the presentation is great, the service is good and the price is descent. Keep in mind though, if you are going to Moxie’s for drinks at the bar, (there are better bars around the area.) so think twice before heading out there. The presentation of the bar really lacks. A good tip if you end up going to check out the bar with a couple of friends and have a few drinks. Monday is their wings day, from 4 pm till close its $3.50 per pound.
